A digression for Love And West, teatowel devotees beyond all else, but this is just too wonderful not to share.

An 80cm square, 100% silk, 1961 calendar scarf, featuring saints feast days, holy days of obligation and other notables from the liturgical year, from French metal forging company, Carnaud Basse Indre. Sure!

A glorious 1960s design, featuring atomic style line drawings of the machinery, typical of the 50s and 60s. Around the perimeter of the calendar are the names of their processes in a lovely lower case sans serif:

cisaillage = shearing | decapage = stripping | laminage a froid = cold rolling | degraissage = degreasing | recuit = annealing | ecrouissage = locking

The silk is a luscious rich cream, and with the monotone print, it would look great with any outfit, or as a piece of mad metallurgy meets the catholic church moment in history, a great gift for your '61 to frame.

Fabric: original vintage scarf, 100% silk, hand rolled edge.

Care: cold hand wash, in shampoo, with gentle rinsing. Lay flat to dry. Very low iron temperature.
